Security Services + Risk Advisory

Enterprise security risk management — assessment, advisory, and execution.

Fortaris delivers the security risk advisory work that boards, audit committees, and senior corporate leadership require: vulnerability and threat assessments, executive protection (domestic and international), travel risk briefings, geopolitical analysis, business continuity, crisis management, and — for select clients — the Ad-Hoc Outsourced Chief Security Officer engagement. Our practice draws from senior federal investigative service, corporate VP-level security leadership, and decades of multi-jurisdictional emergency response experience.

How clients use us

The Ad-Hoc Outsourced CSO engagement

For select corporate clients, Fortaris embeds as an outsourced Chief Security Officer — enterprise security leadership without the full-time C-suite hire. Our Managing Directors manage hiring and background investigations, asset protection programs, corporate security policy, executive protection programs, crisis-management readiness, and ongoing risk mitigation across US and international operations. An engagement typically covers:

01

Security-program audit + maturity assessment

A structured review of the existing security function and a maturity assessment that establishes where the program stands and where it needs to go.

02

Hiring and background-investigation policy

Policy design and execution for hiring and background investigations, raising the standard of who enters sensitive roles.

03

Asset protection program design

Design and implementation of asset protection programs calibrated to the organization's risk posture.

04

Executive protection program design

Protective programs for the firm's principals and senior leadership, designed by leadership with federal protective-service experience.

05

Travel security policy + international support

Travel security policy and in-country support for principals and senior leadership operating internationally.

06

Insider threat program design + response

Insider threat program design paired with investigative response when a matter surfaces.

07

Crisis management readiness + incident response

Crisis-management readiness and incident response capacity, ready before the matter becomes a crisis.

08

Board-level reporting + audit committee briefings

Security reporting and audit committee briefings delivered with the board-level audience in mind.

09

Liaison to law enforcement and regulators

Liaison to law enforcement, regulators, and federal investigative service when matters require it.

Engagements are structured around a defined scope and term — typically 6–24 months — with optional renewal and an explicit transition plan if the client builds a permanent function later. Mid-market companies access enterprise-grade security leadership without a full-time hire; larger organizations engage Fortaris to fill an interim gap, to supplement an existing CSO during a major transaction or expansion, or to mature a security function with senior federal investigative pedigree.

Capabilities

What we deliver

Executive Protection (domestic + international)

Protection programs for corporate principals, senior executives, family-office principals, and high-net-worth individuals in elevated-risk environments — calibrated to threat posture, mobility profile, and discretion requirements. Domestic coverage spans advance work, residential security assessments, secure ground transportation, event security, and ongoing details; international coverage adds travel risk briefings, secure travel planning, in-country protective coordination, geopolitical briefings, and integrated kidnap-and-ransom protocols.

Threat Response Protection

Protective coverage for principals with active or credible threat exposure — workplace violence, post-termination retaliation, public-facing controversy, or matter-driven exposure. Includes threat assessment, protective planning, evidence preservation, and counter-surveillance where indicated.

Vulnerability + Threat Assessments

Enterprise-level vulnerability assessments across physical security, personnel security, information-security adjacencies, supply-chain exposure, executive protection posture, and crisis-response readiness; facility-specific threat assessments for headquarters, manufacturing sites, data centers, retail operations, and high-value asset locations; and pre-event assessments for shareholder meetings, executive announcements, M&A, and leadership transitions.

Geopolitical + Country Risk Analysis

Country-risk analysis for organizations operating internationally, expanding into new geographies, or evaluating cross-border investments — delivered by leadership with INS / Border Patrol and federal investigative experience.

Crisis Management + Business Continuity

Engaged before, during, and after the matters that test an organization's security posture: pre-incident readiness (crisis plans, tabletop exercises, executive crisis training), active-incident response (on-site or remote crisis leadership during fraud discoveries, executive misconduct, breaches, workplace violence, K&R, regulatory raids, supply-chain disruptions), and post-incident review. Continuity-of-operations and resilience planning aligned to the organization's risk posture.

Background Investigations + Hiring Support

Executive background investigations that go beyond standard third-party screening, pre-hire investigative due diligence for senior roles, hiring-program policy design and audit, and insider-threat program design with post-hire continuous monitoring where the role warrants it.

Loss Prevention + Asset Protection

Programs for retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and large-asset organizations to detect, deter, and respond to internal and external asset loss — with investigations capacity and ongoing program design under the Ad-Hoc CSO model where relevant.

Why Fortaris

What sets our practice apart

Federal investigative + crisis management pedigree.
Fortaris's leadership includes a CEO with VP-level global crisis management and security experience at e-commerce scale, plus Managing Directors with 30+ years of federal investigative service. The security work is led by people who have led security at scale.
Senior-led across the engagement.
Ad-Hoc CSO engagements are led by a Managing Director — not delegated to a team and supervised from a distance. Executive protection programs are designed by leadership with federal protective-service experience.
Integrated with investigations + intelligence.
Where a security matter has an investigative dimension — an incident, insider threat, or fraud discovery — Fortaris brings the investigations practice into the engagement without a hand-off across firms.
International capability with US licensure.
International executive protection and country-risk advisory are coordinated with vetted in-country specialists and grounded in US legal compliance.
Discreet by design.
Security engagements are confidential by their nature. We do not publicize client names or matter wins, and engagement letters are structured around confidentiality.

Is Fortaris a security guard firm?

No. Fortaris is a corporate intelligence and investigations firm that operates a senior-led security advisory practice and executive protection capacity. We do not provide uniformed-officer security guard services; for those engagements we partner with established providers and supervise the security-program design at the principal level.

Frequently asked

Frequently asked

What does an Ad-Hoc Outsourced CSO engagement cost?

Engagements are typically structured as a monthly retainer with defined scope. Pricing depends on organization size, geographic complexity, and the depth of program work involved. Initial scoping conversations are confidential and carry no obligation.

Can Fortaris provide executive protection outside the US?

Yes. International executive protection is one of our core engagements — coordinated with vetted in-country specialists and supported by federal investigative and intelligence-service pedigree on our leadership team.

Can the Ad-Hoc CSO engagement transition to a permanent hire later?

Yes. The engagement model includes an explicit transition plan if the client wants to build a permanent function. Fortaris can assist with the executive search, the hand-off, and post-transition advisory support.

How does Fortaris coordinate with law enforcement during a crisis?

Through the federal investigative pedigree on the leadership team. Our Managing Directors maintain professional relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement built across decades of service. In crisis matters, this is often the most under-appreciated value Fortaris brings.

Does Fortaris handle kidnap-and-ransom matters?

Engagements that involve kidnap-and-ransom risk are coordinated tightly with the client's K&R insurer (where one is in place), with specialist response firms, and with appropriate law enforcement. Fortaris is most commonly engaged for the upstream prevention, threat assessment, and program design work.

Bring us in before the matter becomes a crisis

Security engagements are most useful when they begin before the incident. Fortaris engagements begin with a confidential conversation about your matter, your security posture, and the specific exposure you need addressed.
